Stars

Shining stars are scattered in the sky
all are lit, once dull now bright
lying on a bench I look at them
they all are desirable like glories and fame
night is dark, mild breezes blowing
moon is lit world seems green
staring at the stars I felt my desire
to catch the brightest and feel the pleasure
I look at one it becomes the brightest
as I see another it becomes the dullest
i become confused as the starts play tricks
i look all at once to see which one is more lit
all seems lit all are bright
all are equal all give lights
as I look from my heart
one star dazzled all were far
all are precious all are equal
it is your heart that makes one so special

Heading towards IIT Bombay

Hi all,

This particular blog post is dedicated to all those who have been blessed to get admitted in IIT Bombay. Today, I would like to share the story of a young boy, just like you, who was lucky enough to catch a train and enter CSE department of IIT Bombay.

15th March, 2009, the morning started with tremendous pain and overnight agony of gastric ulcer. A young boy almost dying in the bed, helpless. Cruel creator is cursing him for each and every moment. It was 7am in the morning, and suddenly the boy felt some relief from the pain, and slept for a while. A couple of hours latter, he woke up. It was 9:30am, He saw the watch, the pain has started again. He felt sorry again. Just for a moment he remembered the result is perhaps out, but who cares. He knew he has no interest to study any further. He needs money, hell lot of money and he got a job. It was just for the sake of his parents. He is not interested in masters. Someone told him someday, it is the losers who fails to secure a job do a masters degree, and he meant it for his lifetime.

Obviously, he tried to sleep again, but something is going wrong. Someone is becoming curious. what is the result? 'HOPE' is the culprit, 'Desire' is the devil. I still don't understand why did he feel curiosity? He would never prefer a masters degree. Why? May be because he had some illogical desire, a desire to got been beaten, a desire to beat 'em all anywhere, everywhere. Or is it a sweet revenge. The past year experience was too bad. He felt sorry, mood was very off when he was informed that more than 2k students had beaten him. He was crazy. crazy to achieve success. Success is something like a beverage, the more you taste it, more thirsty you become. You look for higher quality. It is never meant to quench you thirst, it is meant to make you addicted.

It is paining still, and he opened his laptop, got the internet connection. Opened the site and entered his roll. Oops, the internet is very slow? no ! The server is overloaded. Lots of requests coming from all over the country. All are equally rather more curious about their score. He tried once again, and once again. He got the response in the fourth attempt. Here it comes and Bingo!

The rest was different story altogether. The electronic device named laptop had a liquid crystal display screen and it bombarding some particles and all these physics show the all india rank of 23. The boy cross checked the details. Is it someone else? No! Here it comes, the smile in his face. He felt like nothing. He could not compare this feeling. He jumped, ran to his mother, and jumped again. Shouted, mom I got 23 all india rank, can u believe that!

That was the day and these were the moments he was meant for. Life has been cruel to that boy, but he is blessed. Blessed like hell. He can now see the proud in his parent's face, the joy his brother has now. The greatest pleasure comes when you realized you are the cause of others happiness. The boy was smiling, and it was prevailing the whole house. The rest of the day he dare not refresh that webpage which displayed the rank. Even if it is a dream, he don't want to woke up. Many dreams have been realized which could have been reality, if he had not woke up in the morning.

My First Reaction to this World of Show offs

Hi,

Things have changed from my last blog post. I had left IIT Bombay, my friends and academic life. And when I look behind, I see them behind my eyesight. My current residential address says it is East Delhi, a place for Jains and Vegetarian people. I am now an employee of Opera Solutions, to elaborate it is Opera Solutions Management Consultancy Private Limited. Things are here quite different from the academic world. People talk about show offs, management skills and business development. People around me are way smarter and prompt in soft skills. I feel myself too much incompetent here, I am struggling here.

Sometimes, I think I not at all fit in this world. I am a simple guy, very very simple guy, who smiles with ecstasy and crying like a child, complains about every other things, loves everyone from heart. Not at all good at pretending and lying. Likes to stay with good people, likes to behave like a good people. Who can care you more than anyone, who can irritate you more than anyone, who shouts at you for every mistakes u do, who guides you in every crossing of your life, who is just too innocent to be matured and matlabi...

Things have been nice to me too in my life and I am happy for those. I have heard someone suggesting me to do good work and forget the rest. I give up very easily and still I have come back many times in life. All I want a person, a friend, a companion to share all my feelings, whom I can trust like hell while fighting with the rest of the world. I am alone these days. very much alone, none to share my problems, none to cry in front of.

Things have gone wrong till now, but I won't quit. I might leave this job but not before I CRACK IT. This is a challenge to me. It is time to prove myself that my spirit is still with me. I do respect myself for whatever I have fought with in life and I am proud of it. I will make it happen once again and it will always be in my own style. Deliver as much as you can. Beat yourself. Be your own competitor. Forget what I like or not, its a challenge and I have to win this race. Its time to bring up the self-respect once again. I am getting too pessimistic, but somehow in the course of so much downfall, I find my back on the wall, so I feel myself motivated to take the aggressive stance and attack the problem from the front.

This is it.

Some notes on Spirituality

Life at its heart is quite difficult to understand. Staying in my room in Hostel 12 I use to think about the true meaning of life and about the great cause I have been here for. Like anyone else I am too not assure about the real objectives of my life. Other seems ignorant about the greatest cause and enjoying the moments with the materialistic pleasures while discovering different logics against spirituality. Whereas, I believe spirituality which is beyond the axioms of human created axioms which meant only to explain the observables. Spirituality has to be felt in ones heart, in ones very soul. Only then he/she can feel the divinity in him/herself.
One way of understanding the divinity of spirituality I think is listening to music. Not the pop or similar genre music which by birth is meant to aggravate your soul and provoke the sadness in our soul. Rather the music which calms down our soul and lead us to the divine power, brings tranquility around our mind and reveal the hidden divine sacred part of our own mind. Like a pleasant piano being played, like the rhythm of the waters in beaches, like a sweat poem and all. Close inspection in the rhythm of the water, their spilling will reveal that there is something pure in it, something very spiritual in it. In that sense, spirituality is devoid of any violence, mostly mental violence. But, is it the same as the romanticism? No, romanticism is where you enjoying the earthly materials or earthly feelings full of desire that keeps you more strangled in mayachakra.

Invisible Strings

It has been a long time we are apart

Its years we have not met

yet the world has not fallen apart

life is flowing as always did

still i feel my heart connected to yours

through some undetectable strings

through the beats of mine and yours

amidst so much separation that separates us

i feel you feel the same way i do often

so much time has elapsed

memories have also faded

yet feelings has remained

that pops out every now and den

Wandering in the streets of Mountain View

Weird but strange ideas come into my mind when I am alone. Such an idea came on the first day of my visit in California, it is to roam around the lonely streets with my naked eyes. So, I wore my shoes and took my bag with a camera inside and descended into the road in my favorite jeans.

As soon as I stepped into the road from my hotel alleys, I found myself the only pedestrian. Sometime, the known facts when faced in reality turns out to be an wondering one, it was one of those rarest feelings I had. Slowly I moved across the street and kept walking.

Walking down the road, several things i noticed, first of which is the cleanliness of the roads, and more precisely everywhere. There were dozens of BMWs roaring in speed and found few Ferraris as well and not to mention the bikes I believed existed only in national geographic channel.

After a long walk, I found a beautiful park on the other side of the road. It was little crowded with people of varying ages. I took a stroll inside the park and felt a cold breeze in the air with a smell of ultimate leisure. It was so full of greens and quietness, yet filled with human activities. Few guys playing volleyball in the corner, a little babe playing with her mom, a couple of aged persons taking an afternoon walk, everything was happening yet so quietly.

On the way towards the exit of the park, I noticed an interesting thing. A young kid was being trained soccer. The trainer took an interesting learning lesson of the kid, he was only letting the kid to kick the ball after the kid completes doing a certain warmup exercise once and it goes in cycle. The kid was always excited to the exercise as it lets him kick the ball at the end, while in turn trainer made sure the kid increases his stamina by following the exercise multiple times. The lesson seemed extremely practical to me as in real life also you get a chance to make your kick  only after you prove yourself through struggles that is always not so interesting to have, but those struggles let you learn the fundamental part of the entire game.

My Visit to the Google Headquarters

My Stay in Mountain View, California

Its long since I used to write blogs once in a month. Now, I am working in Google, Bangalore and I was asked to visit the headquarters for a couple of weeks and guess what! We got emirates business class tickets to mountain view \m/ Cool!!!

Anyways, after fighting for getting gCard and eventually giving up, the auspicious day came in when I boarded my first international flight. It went through Dubai connection. When I landed in san francisco it turned out to be costly, hostile and unfriendly to me. All the way from commute, hotel to food, everything were going against me. But, soon one by one things got settled and issues were resolved. Thanks to my teammate, Neha and her family, I found things in place and started enjoying my stay. Neha rented a car and picked me from my hotel to see the awesome Google campus. Awestruck! The campus is so huge man, for the first time I felt the gigantic presence of this company in the physical world.

Baishe Srabon (বাইশে শ্রাবন).. Bengali Thriller .. Must Watch

Still Wandering in Hostel Corridor

Hi all,

Few months before leaving IIT Bombay, when my mind was wondering if i have to close this account or not, I had no clue how vivid the memories could remain even after leaving it. Since, this was created as a canvas to portray every shades of my life in IIT Bombay, I was confused if i have completed the picture or not. During the last days of stay it was pretty hard to post a blog entry regarding the feelings we were having, but i never knew how the feelings of nostalgia would compel me to start typing again and chatter the old story again and again.

Of course, quite a few of the readers would love to know about life after IIT Bombay, but truly speaking, however marvelous and luxurious it might be, it is never comparable to the life we had in campus. You will hardly find an opportunity to play water counter strike in the corridor till 3am, nobody will disturb you in your room and spoil your whole day or you wont have the whole wing in your room trying to cheer you up just because you are pretending to cry :P

I have heard many people suggesting me to cherish the happy moments instead of missing it, but never quite understood it, but today, every time I remember those days, it brings smiles to my face, may be i have started cherishing those moments of my stay at the campus :)

West Bengal name changed to Paschimbanga - how justifiable and acceptable is that?

Hi all,

It is the age of moving to sandy from sandeep, Dj from Daljeet, but Mamata Banerjee has chosen the opposite pth, moving back to Paschimbanga from a quite cool name West Bengal. Paschimbanga sounds nice but why not bangla? and why the hell name change? I had a lot of questions on my mind and was surfing the net to get something logical. Today's Anandabazar front page highlights the keys points regarding this issue. I am just

briefly pointing them out.

We need name change to:
  1. Go up in the alphabetic order of states in India.
  2. Because West Bengal comes at the end of state list in India, by the time West Bengal representatives get the chance to discuss something, people have already fallen asleep :D
  3. Since, Paschimbanga is what the name of west bengal is, in its official language bangla (bengali), it is recommended to keep both the name same.
These reasons reminded me that I am leaving in India :) It is absolutely insane (insane is the word most appropriate here) to spend so much money for the name change just to go up in the order and if it is the sole reason then Bangla makes more sense as
  1. People of West Bengal calls their land as bangla, there is huge sentiment associated with the name Bangla. Mamatadi would have gained a lot of public support if it was named bangla. Whereas, paschimbanga will bring negative support to her leadership.
  2. Bangla sounds good, not like the ancient name Paschimbanga, which would be phonetically tough to pronounce by people having mother tongue other than bengali.
  3. Bangla is alphabeticall way above than paschimbanga.
I consider there was a possibility for Mamatadi to gain a bit of public support if Bangla was cosen instead of paschimbanga. Obviously, taking anything other than paschimbanga means changing all the bengali documents which doubles the amount of effort and budget. That is might have been the sole reason for sticking to the name paschimbanga.

According to me, I don't think this name change will make any difference apart from wasting a lot of money. Mamatadi should concentrate more on doing effective stuffs other than keeping watermarks of her party in the history of West Bengal. Keeping general public sentiment aside, Paschimbanga is acceptable to me, as my schooling was in bengali medium and hence, I recognize (and also prefer) that name more than West Bengal or Bangla. Bangla sounds more like bangladesh which is not my country. Also, the word paschim reminds me of the ancient land bangla whose western part is my state. Being in West Bengal, I have felt the ambiguity that both the people of west bengal and people of Bangladesh call their land as sonar bangla or bangla. So, bangla, bangladesh, sonal bangla all sound like the same land, whereas banga or paschimbanga keeps itself apart from Bangladesh. There could be huge debate on this issue since it is a subjective issue that depends on person to person and his/her sentiments attached to their mother land. Just to remind my readers that this is entirely my own opinion and I apologize if I have hurt anyone's sentiment.

Life in Delhi, Noida @ Opera Solutions

Hi all,

It has been a long time since my last post. Right now, I am residing in laxmi nagar in East Delhi. I have joined Opera Solutions in the previous month and things have remained pretty interesting in my corporate life. Delhi looked nice to me as well as pretty rough too, for which this place is known as :)

Already, i have started hating Delhi metro despite it being fully air conditioned. The quality of the food and water served here are pretty bad and that lead me to cooking which i am enjoying a bit here. The office is nice, and people there are quite helpful in whatever way I wanted. Well, right i dont have anything more to share with.. will keep posting about me and myself. Life in IIT Bombay is transformed to Life in Delhi & Noida in Opera Solutions.

Singham - fails to repeat dabaang effect

Hello all,

Anyone wants to see dabaang kind a movie rush to the hall, but i won't say Singham achieves somewhere close to what dabaang achieved. But, the movie was worst watching in hall.

I have nothing to say about the storyline, it is almost exact copy of Dabaang storyline. However, i felt the casting was good. Kajal Aggarwal acted very freely and looked very nice, she looked talented. The tall, gorgeous girl was worth staring at. Ajay did nice job. His hunk look did match the acting style and the role. Well, it looked awesome to see Ajay's look. Well, recently I saw in one blog post that Salman praised about it. Apart from this, I like to specially mention the acting of Prakhash Raj. I liked his appearance as villain. He along with Ajay made a lot of comedy in the film. Also, a few marathi dialogues drew positive energy into the movie. Even if the meanings were unknown to most of the delhites, it fetched whistles in multiplex :)

Despite the good performances of all castings, the ending was cheesy and so called bollywood type. The storyline could have been better modified to make it a nice movie.

Bheja Fry 2 Movie Review

Hi all,

Keeping in mind the awesome performance in Bheja Fry, it was tough to come up with a better script, acting in its sequel Bheja Fry 2. But, Vinay Pathak strikes again, with his natural acting skills and in born talent, he made yet another to-be-remembered movie. It was great watching how different Bheja Fry 2 story line is, yet so much in sink with the theme of Bheja Fry.

Looking at the casting, Kay Kay Menon was perfect in his role. In fact, i think Kay Kay Menon with Vinay Pathak in this plot was a perfect match. Minissha lamba was as usual struggling with her acting skills. Why the hell she looks so cold in every movie? Otherwise, the casting was good.

Though, I liked the movie, I felt a bit of over acting by Vinay Pathak at the time of appearance and felt needlessness of the augmentation of bikini girl part in the lonely island.

However, ignore the minute illogical part of the story line, bheja fry 2 will seem to be a good entertainment package. Do watch it.

Few Days Left in IIT Bombay

Hi all,

"Every Start has to come to an end".. This is what circling in my mind all the time.. I have to leave this awesome campus very soon.

I remember the first day i entered the campus in a rented taxi, seeing the unknown campus in shear amazement. From day one, I liked it. It was a rainy day, wet campus is as lonely as possible, we passed Kresit building approaching towards our hostel H-12, don't know where the hell it is. A helpful person in the campus helped me with the direction. The taxi ran slowly and I was feeling so happy to enter a place I never dare to dream to be in :) No, I can never forget that day, it will be in the book of nostalgia for me.

Now, I feel like its Hogwarts, and the H-12 as the huge castle, just like Harry Potter used to be in. Really, i tried to find the similarity between IITB and Hogwarts. In my eyes, i feel the same emotions flowing in my veins like Harry Potter felt. I had had good friends, tremendous pressure, frustrations, happiness, achievements, success, failure, kiddish life, playing so many things everyday, memorable trips, adventures with water scooters, banana boat, trekking and so so many things.

I can never forget our placement week, such an eventful week will never happen in my whole life. It is not possible to describe those feelings, one who faced it can only appreciate it.
The main reason behind so much attachment to IITB is because it is my second home. I call it my "ghar" and kolkata to be my hometown. I will definitely miss this place, sometimes, I walk alone in the corridor, in the campus and I look at the fields, I look at the powai lake, I go the places we used to make so fun, i used to talk to myself and try to feel the same for the last time. I can never forget these feelings, it will be always with me in my heart.

Hope, I will stay a bit more days in this campus and will not be too hard to leave from here...

Life in IIT Bombay Continues

Hi all,

It has been a long time I have not posted anything, but that does not imply that life has become stagnant. Both IIT Bombay and my life is flowing at a high pace. We had a visit to Kashid beach which deserves a special post to be described. Recently, I have started reading Rabindra rachanaboli which has been made publicly available in one website. It was nice to see my undergrad university has significantly contributed to that project. Nevertheless, I am just not in a mood to post something on my blog. Hope, I will post something interesting in few days, but nevertheless, I am quite sure this mediocre post will get its honour once I leave this campus.

Candle Light March in IIT Bombay - - - our Voice Against Corruption

Hi all,

For the last few days, something different is happening in India, Common People have started raising their voice against corruption, and the one who motivated all of us the most is named Anna Hazare. It is redundant to explain who he is and what is his lakshya.

This blog is not about whether Jan Lokpal Bill will remove the corruption or not, how member of an independent body will be selected and be kept uncorrupted and whether it is advisable to allow un-elected to be given more power that elected. This post is about the voice that raise in our campus, IIT Bombay campus in the evening of April 8,2011.
Personally, I would love not to see ourselves protesting like this in our own campus. But, we are compelled by the circumstances. We have kept our anger suppressed for long, we have talked about the corruption "who are the culprits" and all, enough in our mess, in our mail boxes, now the time has come to speak, to raise a Voice Against Corruption. No doubt the path is dictated by Shri Anna Hazare, his initiative has given us the platform to manifest our demands, but the actual agitation comes in our mind by observing the intentional negligence of Government on the issue of corruption. They are least bothered about the questions being asked to them.

Hence, whatever is happening in India, was required. The following are some video footage i captured in the camera, hope this would add enough support to the group of people in India who supports or wants to support "India Against Corruption (IAC)"

10 magical moments of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

On yer bike, son

Captains of the 14 World Cup teams paraded at Dhaka's historic Bangabandhu Stadium for the opening ceremony in a fleet of brightly coloured rickshaws, the transport of choice in the teeming Bangladeshi capital. Indian singer Sonu Nigam and Bangladesh-based Runa Laila, as well as veteran Canadian rocker Bryan Adams, were the headline acts at the event.

Lasith Malinga's hat-trick

Sri Lanka's king of sling claimed a second World Cup hat-trick in a six-wicket haul against hapless Kenyain Colombo. Malinga sent back Tanmay Mishra, Peter Ongondo and Shem Ngoche in successive balls. In 2007, he had taken four wickets in four balls against South Africa.

Kevin O'Brien's record century

Irish whirlwind Kevin O'Brien scored the fastest-ever World Cup century, off just 50 balls, as Ireland completed a stunning three-wicket win over England.

Shoulder to shoulder after quake tragedy

Australia and New Zealand players stood shoulder to shoulder and observed a minute's silence in Nagpur on February 25 in honour of the Christchurch earthquake victims. "We are neighbours and brothers," said Australia skipper Ricky Ponting.

Tait vs Tillakaratne

Aussie speedster Shaun Tait and Sri Lanka opener Tillakaratne Dilshan squared up and Tait won hands down. Dilshan edged through the slips to enrage the fiery Tait. The Sri Lankan then pulled away from the crease just as Tait went into his next delivery stride, before the speedster had his man next ball, courtesy of a slip catch.

Brother bother

Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal's calamitous performance behind the stumps against New Zealand unleashed a stream of criticism and paved the way for younger brother Umar to take over. That was until Umar hurt his finger and then his ankle and was accused by sections of the Pakistan media of feigning injury to save his brother's job.

Tweeting under fire

Burly West Indian opener Chris Gayle said he was terrified when the team bus was stoned in Dhaka following the win over Bangladesh. But his fear didn't affect his tweeting addiction. "This is ridiculous. World Cup with so much security and this happens. Big joke. Every player lay flat," he wrote on his Twitter account. He added: "This is bullshit.....Bangladesh stoning our bus!!! Freaking glass break!!! This is crap, can't believe..what next, bullets!!!!"

India and Pakistan united

The semifinal in Mohali between the two neighbours resulted in Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani accepting an invitation from Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh to attend the match. Both leaders met the players and stood side by side as the national anthems were played.

Hold the fireworks

Colombo organizers were a little too quick off the mark with the firework display arranged to coincide with the end of Muttiah Muralitharan's last appearance on home soil. Thilsan Samaraweera was still seeking the winning run against New Zealand when the night sky was prematurely lit up.

Sachin's title at the sixth attempt

World record breaking batsman Sachin Tendulkar was carried around the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after finally capturing a World Cup winners medal at the sixth attempt. "Tendulkar has carried the burden of the nation for 21 years. It was time we carried him," said young teammate Virat Kohli.

Fight for your Country, Fight for our Glory

Hi all,

It is the eve of the world cup final and billions of people are in the sea of anxiety. Will this be the one destined to be the glory of Indian cricket? I don't know and don't want to know. I am afraid too much. It is not the first time I have kept my fingers crossed. I still remember 2003's world cup final. I know how fragile Indian bowling line up is.

India is a country where the sole driving force lies in its emotion. This is why we do wonders, we can turn every single match on its head, we can create history, but when it comes to our bowling side, they seem helpless. Couple of bad overs for them, make their heart dead, whole side looks like living corpses, gallery becomes graveyard. Nevertheless, I am optimistic. Experts won't count this team as one of the greatest Indian sides. But, my intuition says, "is it destined?" if it is then, I will be happy. Because, Indians were always the one who deserved it more, more specifically Sachin. Me and most probably none of his fans can realize how desperate he is for it, the only achievement he haunted for so long. He delivered tremendously in every single world cup, but it was always destiny who was ruthless to him. I am pretty sure that tomorrow, it will be the god of cricket who will write his own destiny and glory will be ours and only ours.

To the Indian team, my message will be "Fight for your country, fight for our glory"

Rhythm of Life-Music

Hi all,

I am right now listening soundtracks from Wake up Sid. Each one is awesome, somehow depicting the rhythm of life. They have all emerged from sargam. Yet they are so different, each one so special and touching in its own characteristics. They make us smile, we feel great.
I feel each of us like these different songs, each of us are having an unique rhythm of life. Just like a lyrics needs its own note and music only then it becomes a nice song, each one of us needs its unique rhythm and that would make life as musical as those songs. Then, the journey of our own life would give us the heavenly pleasure which we feel while listening to a nice song. Now, think what makes a perfect duet ;)
